A resource to explore
Try & Discover
Plan and reflect on a manageable behavioural experiment with the free Try & Discover worksheet, online or as a printable PDF.
About this resource
A behavioural experiment is a planned way to explore a prediction through experience. Try & Discover supports experiments agreed together in therapy. The aim is to learn what happens, rather than pass a test or force yourself into a situation that feels too much.
How to use this resource
- Agree a manageable experiment and write down your prediction.
- Decide what you will do and what you want to observe.
- Afterwards, record what happened and what you learnt, including anything unexpected.
An everyday example
If you predict that asking for clarification will always annoy people, an agreed experiment might be asking one straightforward question and observing the response.
For reflection and learning. These resources complement individual support and are not a diagnosis or a replacement for therapy.
